Introducing Our Pollinator Gardening Guide for Schools

Winter months are a great time for teachers and educators to begin spring and summer pollinator garden planning, and we’re excited to share our new resource to help with that process: Pollinator Gardening at Your School: A Basic Guide to Getting Started.

We created this guide to take some of the guesswork out of garden design, plant sourcing, maintenance, funding, and other aspects of planning and implementing a school pollinator garden in Minnesota. In line with our mission to support pollinator habitat and related learning at Minnesota K-12 schools, the guide features primarily Minnesota sources and providers.

You’ll find links to design templates, plant lists, plant suppliers, and more. We’ve also provided safety tips and maintenance recommendations, compiled grant opportunities, and highlighted some go-to pollinator gardening experts. Part of our mission includes creating a community around expanding pollinator habitat at Minnesota schools, and the guide includes a section focused on community building within the school as well as with the larger community.

We welcome your feedback! Please let us know if you have suggestions about other information that you’d like to see in the guide. We also welcome questions related to school pollinator gardening or pollinators. Contact us – we’re happy to help!

Looking forward to supporting students and pollinators with you in 2024!
